"Welcome to the revolution of LOVE," exclaims Madonna in her new short film Her Story, released in collaboration with VOGUE Germany on International Women's Day. The film, directed by Luigi + Iango, starring a female-only cast, flip-flopping between gender roles in zoot suits, sailor uniforms and our Faeth Millinery Black Alder Hat was dedicated to "All women who fight for freedom." We were extremely honored to have The Queen of Pop not only don one of our favorite creations, but do so while speaking out on behalf of women's rights and for the rights of all marginalized people around the world.
Check out the full 12-minute black-and-white video and related VOGUE Germany article online HERE. Plus, stay tuned for the 18-page editorial styled by Arianne Phillips soon to be released in the April 2017 Issue of VOGUE Germany.
Thank you Madge for lending your passionate, political voice to fight for human rights, artists and designers everywhere!
We love brides here at Faeth Millinery! We also love a challenge! This past summer we were tasked in repairing and reinventing two vintage bridal headpieces for a very dear friend. Our friend Sarah wanted to keep with family tradition and wear the antique cathedral length veil and freshwater pearl headband that was handed down to her from her fiancé's grandmother. This vintage veil had some large tears from silk rot and the seventy year old headband was in need of a complete makeover. We removed the piping from around the edge of the veil, cut off nearly two feet of veiling and hand-sewed the piping back on to veil edge, creating a more modern and manageable waltz length veil. We then removed the original pearlized wax flowers from the antique headband and created a completely new headband with millinery wire, grosgrain and the salvaged flowers then finally added some cream colored freshwater pearls. We love the final result and the gorgeous bride. Congrats Sarah and Asha! Do you have a vintage piece that you would like us to update or repair? Email us here for a consultation or quote.
